Project/Proposal Summary:
The purpose of the Professional and Organizational Development (POD) program is to strengthen USAID health sector staff capacity to lead and manage health programs. The POD program will provide a complex array of professional development opportunities available to all GH staff in Washington, Regional Bureaus, Mission staff, and where feasible and possible, host-country and partner health professionals. OD activities will involve developing a blended, multi-faceted learning program that includes a mix of distance learning, instructor-led core training events, and tailored on-demand training.

Position Summary: MSI is seeking experienced Organizational Development (OD) consultants based primarily in the Washington, D.C. area to contribute short-term technical assistance to the POD program for USAID public-health professionals. OD Consultants will provide a variety of services and facilitation in support of the Global Health POD program, working closely with the project director, other technical and administrative staff, consultants, and implementing partners. The majority of activities will occur in Washington, DC, although many assignments will require international travel.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities will vary based on current project needs, but may include the following:• Perform OD assessments, design and deliver OD interventions, facilitate team-building retreats and other events, or provide other OD-related services that positively enhance group performance and individual skills;• Adopt and apply state-of-the-art practices in OD, coaching, facilitation, and other OD-related areas to continually improve program performance and effectiveness;• International travel for in-country trainings and assessments may be required.

Qualifications: • Minimum ten years of experience with international development, USAID, and international public health;
• Master’s degree in Public Health, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or other related field;• Extensive experience with and current knowledge of organizational development, facilitation, performance improvement, management coaching and mentoring, and related fields; • Knowledge and expertise in one or more of the following areas: interpersonal communication, teamwork, managing change, process improvement, program management, integrated planning and control, quality management, and international public health topics;• Excellent verbal and written skills, as well as the ability to work independently as well as in team situations; • Fluency in a second language, particularly French, a plus.
