All children have the right to life and health. Save the Children Norway (SCN) is currently recruiting a senior health advisor for a permanent position in our headoffice in Oslo, Norway.
SCN is currently strengthening our international programming portfolio on maternal, newborn and child health. This is an important strategic priority in our new 2014-2017 strategy. To ensure high quality programming and program development, solid results reporting, and strategic fundraising, we are strengthening our health team with one additional permanent advisor position. SCN work to ensure that all children have free access to basic health care and a qualified health worker within reach. We have a particular focus on the integration between health and education, and preventing teenage pregnancies among girls.
SCN has a highly qualified health campaign team consisting of colleagues working with advocacy, campaign, media, marketing and program support in Norway and internationally. Save the Children internationally has a global campaign to combat preventable child deaths, Every One (http://everyone.savethechildren.net/) The senior health advisor will report to Director of Child Rights Policy and Program Quality.
We are looking for a highly qualified person with the following expertise:
- Higher Education within the field of international health, including development studies
- Experience with working with international health in a developing country context
- Experience with results monitoring and reporting
- Solid understand of child rights programming
- Experience with fundraising for international health programs
- Experience with developing program concepts and project proposals
- Qualifications from the field of Education will be an advantage
We are looking for someone who are accountable, proactive and who can take part in strengthening SCN as a key player promoting children’s right to health. You need to be analytical and a strategic thinker, with the ability to combine excellent theoretical skills with insight into how to best support country programs. You are expected to work efficiently, independently and to be a problem solver, and you must also demonstrate excellent collaboration skills and to thrive in a multi-cultural context. Extensive travelling must be expected. Excellent English skills is a requirement, Norwegian will be an advantage.
