HelpAge International’s East Asia Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO) is responsible for the regional programme, working in partnership with affiliates and partner organisations in the region. HelpAge’s country office in Myanmar is responsible for the country programme.
HelpAge is widening the scope of its work in Myanmar. The overall aim of the programme is to reduce poverty and vulnerability and to facilitate inclusive participation in community development. In 2013, HelpAge moved into Kayin State, this position is part of the HelpAge structure in Myanmar to lead the implementation a European Union (EU) funded project under the Aid to Uprooted People (AUP) in Myanmar budget, titled ‘Creating an Enabling Post-conflict Environment for Populations in Kayin State, and Facilitating the Safe Return of IDPs and Refugees’. HelpAge in collaboration with partners will implement the project from early 2013 to early 2017 in 80 communities of Thandaunggyi, Hpapun and Kawkreik townships. Field implementation will be carried out in each target township either by HelpAge staff directly or by local partners. HelpAge leads the Consortium which will be coordinating the work. The project team will be headed by a Project Manager who will be reporting to the Country Director of HelpAge and will coordinate the work of Consortium Members to achieve project objectives on time.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working in conflict or post-conflict areas and with vulnerable groups and substantial international experience in managing large rural development projects, preferably including Myanmar or South East Asia. The ideal candidate will also have demonstrated leadership and management skills. Substantial experience in conflict or post-conflict areas preferably in Myanmar is highly desirable.
