CAFOD, one of the UK’s leading international aid agencies, is currently looking for a Livelihoods and DRR Programme Officer based in Freetown Sierra Leone. CAFOD’s work in Sierra Leone includes programmes in livelihoods and Governance. The organization works closely with partner organisations to combat poverty and injustice and to build a strong and dynamic civil society.
Job Profile
As part of its strategic priorities in the coming years, CAFOD’s sustainable livelihoods focal area aims at supporting women and men to improve their ability to make a decent living in a sustainable manner, and by increasing their ability to respond to climate change impacts and other natural hazards.
Your role
The Livelihoods and DRR Programme Officer will support the effective designing and implementation of CAFOD’s Livelihoods and DRR programmes in Sierra Leone and Liberia. The scope of the post includes the following:
• To develop and support programmes with partners that promote good practice on livelihoods and DRR, reducing vulnerability to disasters. This may include programmes with institutional funding.
• To monitor the use of programme funds/resources, ensuring they are properly accounted for and that programmes are implemented within an agreed budget.
• To raise awareness, build capacity and share stories and learning on livelihoods and DRR programming.
• To contribute to the implementation, monitoring and review of CAFOD’s country strategy for Sierra Leone and Liberia.
Your profile
You will have experience in livelihoods and DRR programmes development, monitoring and evaluation, with the ability to work in difficult environments and under pressure. You will need to be fluent (written and spoken) in English and confident in dealing with local organisations in an empowering way, including Church and NGO partners.
