The International Economic Growth Division conducts projects in agriculture, economic development, labor, privatization, environment, and trade. We work in developing countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS Degree with 12 years of experience OR the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the project’s COP, the DCOP is a key personnel position primarily responsible for ensuring a strong financial, administrative, and operational platform for The FARM Project so that its technical activities can be implemented in an efficient, effective, and timely manner in South Sudan’s complex and challenging work environment. The DCOP will also ensure that the project will function within company policy and procedures, contractual requirements, and South Sudan legal requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
Actively manage and oversee the daily financial, administrative, and operations of The FARM Project including the Financial, Procurement, Information Technology, Human Resource, Security, and Logistical Management components of the project; Oversee the design, implementation, and reporting of the project’s Grants program; Actively involved in identifying and trouble-shooting operational problems; Develop project policies and procedures designed to address operational issues and train staff to work within them; Assist COP with the project’s annual work planning process as well as develop and prepare financial and management reports that will be helpful to project, client, and home office management. Instill a team-oriented environment among operations staff and develop staff capacity through individual mentoring and staff training. Ensure seamless coordination between technical and operations components of program. Regularly meet with client, counterparts, and home office management on a regular basis on contractual and project performance issues.
Skills Prerequisites:
Advanced degree in business administration, economics, international development, or related field preferred. Minimum 12 years of experience managing complex international development programs (agriculture preferred) preferably within a Sub-Sahara Africa context. Experience in post-conflict development and/or South Sudan is preferred. 5 years of grant-making experience in developing country context including design, management, and implementation of program and building capacity of small private-enterprises and smallholder farmer associations. Strong interpersonal and team-building skills with significant experience building strong host country national team. Proven ability to work with a wide range of local organizations and people. Excellent understanding of USAID and USG regulations preferred, or applicable international donor experience. Ability to work in Sub-Saharan Africa an/or post conflict environment.
