Our work in over 75 countries is strengthened through our global network of like-minded organisations - the only one of its kind in the world. As Country Director you will be responsible for the development, management and administration of HelpAge International’s programme in Sudan and to promote the development of a national capacity to meet the needs of older people.
The ideal candidate will produce and monitor a three to five year strategic plan, annual operational plans and budgets including humanitarian and development work. You will provide overall supervision to the Darfur emergency relief and rehabilitation programme including setting strategic direction, ensuring high quality programming and liaison with Khartoum based donors. In addition you will build the work in Khartoum in partnership with local organisations and ensure delivery of a high quality programme.
You will have substantial experience of programme management in humanitarian and development context, including resource, financial, HR and information management. You will demonstrate direct experience of project appraisal, assessment, monitoring and evaluation methodologies. You should have demonstrated experience in preparing funding proposals and reports for a range of donors. Fluent written and spoken English and the ability to write clear reports for a wide range of audiences is also essential for this role. Experience of working in Sudan is highly desirable.
