Medical Teams International is an internationally-recognized Christian relief and development organization with a 33-year history of responding to natural and man-made disasters, implementing community health development programs, providing medical and health services and supplies, and delivering preventative and emergent dental care to people in great need. As we seek to expand our reach and impact in the world, we are looking for a Director of our Health Commodity Services group. Recently integrated into a single operating unit, our team has shipped over $1.75 billion in health-related humanitarian aid around the world over the last two decades, helping millions of people. But there is so much more that can and must be done. To lead this strategic growth initiative, we are seeking a strong, inspiring, and capable leader with demonstrated experience in resource acquisition (Gifts In Kind/Donations of Product and cash) and distribution strategies to support our relief and development programs..
Position Summary
The Director of the Health Commodity Services group reports directly to the Vice President, Operations Support. This position is based at our headquarters office in Portland, Oregon. The overarching responsibilities include:
- Key member of senior leadership leadership team, jointly responsible for the development and execution of significant enterprise-wide initiatives aligned with our mission,
- Leading an effective health commodity (Gift-In-Kind/Donations of Product) strategy through proper planning, prospecting, procurement, distribution, and monitoring activities,
- Optimizing commodity-supported relief and development interventions within Medical Teams and NGO partner programs,
- Leading a team of 7+ staff and coordinating their efforts with 200 professional and lay volunteers who serve in our distribution centers, and
- Building and maintaining a secure and efficient global supply chain for the donated medical and health related materials we receive, process and provide.

- Strong, inspirational and effective leader with ten years or more of progressively increasing strategic leadership responsibilities,
- Demonstrated experience in resource acquisition, supply chain management, and relief and development programming,
- Enthusiastic about travel in the U.S. and overseas, typically not more than 10% of the time, and
- Educational background aligned with and in proportion to career track and aspirations.
