About us
ODI (www.odi.org.uk) aims to inspire and inform policy and practice to reduce poverty by locking together high-quality applied research and practical policy advice.
ODI is conducting a multi-year project, ‘Development Progress’, which aims to measure, understand and communicate where and how progress in development has happened. By examining progress across multiple sectors, the project seeks to explain what has been successful and why over the past two decades.
The post holder will contribute, under the supervision of a Project Leader or Research Fellow, to developing, conducting, fundraising for, and managing policy relevant, high-quality and innovative research, policy advice and public affairs programmes, broadly within the Institute’s overall strategy and with the aim of inspiring and informing policy. You will also contribute to policy research and advisory projects that are generally cross-country and cross-institutional in nature, engage with policy-makers in research and advisory processes, and disseminate results.
This role is broadly focused on analysing and effectively communicating political, economic and social processes of change in a wide range of developing countries. A multi-disciplinary background and interests are advantageous.
About youThe successful candidate will have:
• a degree and postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline• a strong background and experience in producing research outputs• experience in an international development policy research environment, i.e. policy-orientated research, demonstrated by publications and reports• experience in producing research outputs in a short period of time and for different audiences• excellent analytical, writing, presentation and networking skills• strong organisational skills and the ability to multi-task• the ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative.
