The MSF Regional Office in the United Arab Emirates is recruiting a Partnership Development Officer to lead the development of its corporate and institutional partnerships.

PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

OBJECTIVE:

Under the direction of the Head of Fundraising, the Partnership Development Officer will be responsible for cultivating new and high value corporate and institutional partnerships in the United Arab Emirates and other Gulf countries.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Strategy development

  • Work with the Head of Fundraising to develop strategic approaches to increase engagement and fundraising partnerships with companies and institutions in the UAE and the Gulf
  • Establish goals and strategies for the enhancement of new partnerships based on factual analysis
  • Create an annual plan for new partnership development and implement it effectively
  • Contribute to the development of the overall fundraising strategy

Corporate partnership development

  • Research and evaluate prospective corporate donors
  • Maintain and appropriately manage database of corporate donor prospects
  • Develop high potential prospects for first-time MSF partnerships
  • Research and test partnership strategies to improve effectiveness
  • Prepare well targeted funding applications and deliver pitches / presentations to current corporate supporters and prospects
  • Develop, promote and facilitate a range of appropriate partnership opportunities including but not limited to in-kind support, workplace giving, volunteer opportunities, financial support and sponsorship.
  • Secure corporate sponsorships for MSF events and fundraising initiatives
  • Build long-term relationships with MSF UAE’s corporate partners through timely reports; written, telephone and face to face communication; events, etc
  • Coordinate and produce materials for corporate donors and communication strategies
  • Acknowledge and appropriately thank donations and other support from companies
  • Cultivate community support for MSF by initiating and maintaining relationships with individuals, businesses and organizations on a year round basis
  • Facilitate linkage of individual major gift prospects with the fundraising team
  • Produce regular reports on the status of partnerships with companies and institutions

Corporate sector awareness and collaboration

  • Be aware of industry trends, successful partnerships, and sector news
  • Develop opportunities for engagement and dialogue with corporate supporters around relevant corporate social responsibility agendas
  • Build expertise in business and community affairs by attending relevant industry meetings, seminars and networking events
  • Monitor companies’ funding interests and application procedures

Institutional partnership development

  • Research the institutions and foundations in the UAE and the Gulf to identify potential partnership opportunities
  • Develop and implement an effective strategy to cultivate and manage relationships with institutions and foundations in the UAE and other Gulf countries
  • Implement a range of activities aimed at increasing partnerships with national and regional organisations and foundations
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge and understanding of the non-profit environment in the UAE and the Gulf, and adapt strategy to respond to new opportunities and challenges

Due diligence and compliance

  • Ensure all partnerships fulfil the requirements of MSF’s policies and guidelines
  • Be a main point of contact and expertise on corporate and institutional partnerships
  • Keep up to date on compliance issues related to corporate fundraising and partnership with foundations/ non-profit organisations

Other

  • Work collaboratively with the fundraising and communication teams in support of the overall fundraising strategy and activities
  • Collaborate closely with other MSF sections and participate in international working groups as appropriate
  • Contribute positively to team cohesion
  • Undertake inter-emirate travel as well as travel to other Gulf countries as needed.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • At least two years of non-profit fund development or related field in a corporate environment
  • New donor acquisition/sales and customer service background
  • Experience of gathering, analysing and interpreting information to write compelling and effective proposals/ cases for support
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills to deliver fundraising pitches, ideas and project updates to a range of audiences in a clear, inspiring and confident way
  • Comfortable and fluent in a variety of social situations
  • Persuasive, tenacious, and highly motivated
  • Demonstrated skills of creativity, resourcefulness and strategic thinking
  • Demonstrated strengths in efficiency, multi-tasking, and attention-to-detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Commitment to continuous improvement
  • A strong interest in humanitarian issues and commitment to the aims and values of MSF
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, Arabic would be an advantage
  • Knowledge and understanding of corporate giving and/or the non-profit sector in the UAE and Gulf region would be a distinct advantage
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
