We are looking for: A NUTRITIONAL CAUSAL ANALYSIS EXPERT
Country: Ethiopia – Based in Awassa
Length of Contract: 3 months, starting October 2013, the 14th
Responsibilities: In order to realize a Nutritional Causal Analysis (NCA), you will be expected to:
Conduct an analysis of the nutritional causes following the ACF – NCA guidelines.- Present the methodology and study plan of action to the ACF coordination team, as well as to the field teams. - Identify the main hypotheses through discussions with ACF teams and extensive reading of research reports - Present and validate the list of hypotheses to be tested with technical partners during a workshop.- Conduct qualitative research with communities and oversee the quantitative survey (if necessary)- Analyze, interpret and validate results with the communities before presenting them to the partners- Write the final report analyzing the causes of malnutrition and outline consequences in terms or plan of actions
Manage a team- Identify human resource requirements for the study and participate in the recruitment- Train your team to NCA survey methodology- Promote respect for the ACF Charter and prevent fraud and power abuse.- At the end of the mission, conduct performance evaluation and leave references for each team
Communicate about the NCA- Produce an executive summary of the final NCA report for its broadcast to national partners- Send the final report and the executive summary of the NCA to HQ NCA focal point- Prepare and publish an article about the study for ACF technical news
Represent and liaise with the authorities, the UN, NGOs and local partners- Contribute to and participate in coordination meetings in link with NCA- Represent ACF at local, regional or national level in collaboration with the Country Director
Contribute to ACF capitalization and contribute to the improvement of the methodology- Develop recommendations for the implementation of the methodology and about the tools used for the survey- Support the advocacy work of the mission (in relation with NCA)
Qualification and previous experience: Graduate and/or post-graduate in nutrition and/or food security. A previous experience with ACF is preferred while a previous NCA survey mission on the field is a major asset. Excellent analytic skills are necessary. An ability to communicate and deal with culturally sensitive issues is requested. Familiarity with the Ethiopian context desired. Excellent English communication and presentation skills needed.
Status: Employee - Total average yearly gross income : from 44910€ to 51410€- Fixed-term contract, provided by ACF according to the French legislation.- All expenses paid on the field: o Support to the R & R costs : 110€/month averageo Transportation costs to and from the mission : 460€/ month average,o Collective or individual accommodation depending on position : 700€/month averageo Food and hygiene expenses (living allowance) : 276€/montho Per Diem : 163€/month- Gross monthly salary ranging from €1805 to €2305 (13rd month included), depending on relevant experience- Social benefits: Medical, life and accident insurance provided by the institution- 25 days of annual paid leaves- 20 days of extra leaves per year (taken as recovery time breaks of one week every 2 or 4 months depending on the mission) - Pre departure training, at the HQ in Paris
