JOB CONTEXT: The “Ubuntu Care: Confronting sexual violence against children with disabilities in Burundi, Rwanda and Kenya” project is a multi- countries project aiming at addressing the root causes and mitigating the consequences of violence against children, especially those with disabilities. It includes 2 components: the project itself, and the Evaluation Challenge Fund project, developed in partnership with Centre for Refugee Research of the School of Social Sciences at the University of New South Wales (Australia) aiming at evaluating the results and impact of the project during its cycle of implementation.
JOB DESCRIPTION:The Regional Coordinator is responsible for the overall achievement of the regional project, aiming at translate effectively the international commitments in regard of children’s rights, in particular the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) into practical actions on the ground through improved response mechanisms to Sexual and gender based violence against children at all levels.
The post includes 3 keys objectives:- Implement the regional component of the project - Manage the regional team in charge of the compilation, coherence and reporting of the project at whole (2 people)- Provide the technical support to each sub component of the project in 3 different countries to guarantee development, ownership and coherence of the approaches chosen for the project.
General mission: Under the authority of the SEA desk (line management RP with operational coordination with the deputy RP), the regional coordinator is responsible for the overall achievement of the regional project. He/She is in charge of the regional activities of the project, as well as the technical coordination of the project (he/she is the direct support of the PMs in coordination with the TU advisor). He/She manage a team of regional officers in charge of the compilation parts (monitoring, reporting, finances and partnerships).
Responsibility 1(15%): Organisation and Management of the regional coordination teamResponsibility 2 (40%): Management of the regional component of the project, with specific focus on result 4 - Advocate in favor of more efficient protection’ systems for survivors at the National, regional and international level.Responsibility 3 (40%): Coordinate and provide the technical support to each sub component of the project in Burundi, Kenya and Rwanda. Responsibility 4: Research (5%): Supports the research implemented in Burundi all along the project
CANDIDATE PROFILE:- Diploma in management and/or development studies, social action- Technical expertise in one area of child protection and disability or/and GBV- Professional experience of 2-4 years experience in implementing and supervising projects, including managing teams and partnerships- Ideally, the candidate will have already carried out similar work in an NGO or in an organisation working at an international level.
REQUIRED LANGUAGE SKILLS: Perfect knowledge of written and spoken both in French and English (with accomplished writing skills).
JOB ENVIRONMENT: The position is a regional one, based in Rwanda or Burundi (negociable) with regular moving in Kenya, Rwanda and Burundi. The living conditions are good and security conditions fair, as the activities are not implemented in insecure areas.
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: Salary: 2300 to 2600€ gross salary/month + 457 Euros net/month expatriation allowance + 50% of the medical cover taken in charge by HI + repatriation insurance + indemnity for partner and childrenOrVolunteer: 750 or 850 Euros monthly indemnity + living allowance paid on the field + accommodation + 100% of the medical cover taken in charge by HI + repatriation insurance + indemnity for partner and children
