Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is an independent international medical humanitarian organisation that delivers aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural or man-made disasters, or to people that are excluded from access to health care. The organisation has health projects in more than 68 countries.

Purpose of the job
The position is based in Cape Town and covers the following technical domains: HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, reproductive health, epidemiology, public health and operational research.

The position also requires the sharing of specific dossiers with other HIV/TB technical experts in SAMU team.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

?To perform regular field visits to MSF OCB HIV projects, mostly in Southern and Central Africa with objectives clearly defined jointly by the field and operations department in Brussels , that will include some of the next topics, in function of the context:
?Evaluation of operational and technical aspects of the HIV activities and provide clear recommendations in line with MSF guidelines and policies
?Evaluation of HIV/TB integrated activities and support to implementation of improved management of TB and DRTB (including organisational, strategic and technical support)
?Provide general technical support (short trainings on specific topic, review of protocols, bedside training)
?Support for the implementation of improved HIV/TB pediatric care
?Support for the implementation of improved PMTCT activities (as relevant)
?General support for organization of services (especially for programs involved in decentralisation), including flow of patient, data collection, rationalization of care and adherence support
?Support for HIV care implementation in non-vertical HIV projects
?To work together with other HIV expert based in SAMU on specific dossiers (operational research, developing tools for field support, data collection support etc.). Those topics remain to be defined.
?To develop links with South African HIV experts in order to benefit from their expertise in the drawing of our recommendations and strategies.

Job Specification
**Minimum eeducation required:* University degree in Medicine and registration as a Medical Doctor and a diploma in HIV management or public health

Essential experience: At least 5 years of first hand clinical/programmatic experience in HIV/AIDS, inclusive of PMTCT, ARV, TB/HIV integration?3 years MSF field experience in various MSF HIV projects, including at management level

Preferred Experience:
?Proven experience in field/ operational research
?Post–graduate qualifications in infectious diseases
?Knowledge of common epidemiological software ( Stata, SPSS...)as well as HIV monitoring software ( e-register, Fuchia...)

Knowledge and skills:
?Good communication skills
?English speaking and ability to communicate in French
?Ability to work in a team within a flexible environment
?Willingness and ability to travel regularly
?Demonstrable commitment to humanitarian issues
?Languages: Fluency in English and French essential
