Free Press Unlimited is looking for a Coordinator Internet Protection Lab (1,0 FTE)

Objective of the position- To develop, organize, coordinate, monitor and evaluate projects in the field of Internet, digital security of activists and journalists. Both in The Netherlands and abroad;- To advise management on policy and strategy.

Place in the organization-Reports to steering committee Internet Protection Lab-Works under the guidance of daily operational management of the relevant team leader of Free Press Unlimited;-Provides operational guidance to project staff engaged in several projects within the Internet Protection Lab.

Core Activities-Coordinates partnership-Develops and implements annual reports of the Internet Protection Lab on behalf of the steering committee; prepares meetings of the steering committee.-Communication-Updates website and social media; informs members of the Internet Protection Lab on a regular basis; manages and aligns member of the Internet Protection Lab.-Project Management-Acquires new project activities with members of the Internet Protection Lab;-Manages, coordinates, guides and oversees the planning and execution of project goals;-Ensures qualitative reporting to donors and the steering committee on a regular basis.-Representation and acquisition-Visits relevant conferences; tracks new developments in the field of surveillance, filtering and liberation technologies;-Gives presentations about Internet Protection Lab to stakeholders (including potential donors);-Together with other members, gives guidance to project developments for the purpose of acquisition.

Tasks-Examine the demand for projects in the fields of Internet, Internet freedom, mobile digital technology, technological support that contributes to the protection of journalists, civil society activists and digital dissidents;-Design project proposals that meet those demands (including financial -, personnel - and logistical implementation), according to the guidelines of the involved funding agencies;-Detect new developments in the digital information domain, identify opportunities and threats and advise the steering committee of the IPL on strategy and policy;-Deepen and broaden his / her knowledge and experience in the field of Internet, mobile digital technology and keep track of current developments.-Design the content of project activities, assess potential participants and ensure the development of appropriate (educational) materials; responsible for planning, organization and implementation of projects and if necessary hire project staff - within the financial and qualitative frameworks - and reports this regularly to the Steering Committee IPL through meetings;-Responsible for writing communication contributions, web texts and keep the external project information up to date, including the design and development of educational multimedia materials for projects.

Education -Professional and intellectual capacities at academic level.

Knowledge & experience-Minimum of 5 years experience in the field of Internet and mobile and digital techniques, preferably in combination with affinity for journalism, human rights and/or development with an emphasis on digital developments;-Understanding of and experience in project management (including planning , monitoring and evaluation); -Experience with working in an international environment, or in developing countries;-Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal;-Excellent command of Dutch and English and possibly a third modern language.
