UNICEF’s communication function represents the public face of UNICEF and is entrusted with shaping the organization’s external image among global stakeholders. The Division of Communication (DOC) plays a key role in maintaining the organization’s distinctive standing and ensuring that the rights of children and women are seen as a top priority on policy agendas. The Division is responsible for communication and public advocacy strategies, policies and guidance for the organization, and is accountable for UNICEF’s global reputation and brand management.

The Brand Management Section (BMS) reinforces the integrity of the UNICEF brand through normative guidelines and standard operating procedures and provides strategic intelligence to the organization on UNICEF’s brand and reputation. This term of reference describes the work of a research consultant to contribute to the efforts of the Brand Management Section.

Scope of Work:

Under the supervision of the BMS Chief, the consultant will assist with research and analysis of topics including; brand management best practices, state of brand image and performance, intellectual property protection; reputational risk, and brand visibility. The consultant will support the Section Chief in conducting research, writing reports, preparing issue briefs on key brand topics and contributing to normative guidelines and strategic positioning.

Responsibilities:

a.Conducts secondary research on brand and reputation topics as required by the Section Chief.
b.Analyses information and writes reports.
c.Reviews, revises and prepares materials for the Section on brand and reputation topics.
