OVERVIEW
MTV EXIT is the world’s largest behaviour change campaign in the fight against human trafficking and exploitation. Harnessing the power of the MTV brand, MTV EXIT has one vision: to contribute to a reduction of human trafficking through the design and implementation of innovative campaigns that equip young people to make informed, empowered decisions.
With the support of AusAID and USAID, MTV EXIT works closely with key stakeholders and influencers across the globe, including international and local celebrities, media and corporate partners, anti-trafficking and youth organisations, government agencies and young people to create targeted campaigns that promote safe migration, and encourage communities to take social action.
We are seeking a passionate, motivated individual to join our regional team in Bangkok as a Distribution Manager. This role will be responsible for the dissemination of MTV EXIT campaign content in its efforts to reach and engage millions of young people, through providing key programs to both commercial and non-commercial distribution platforms, with the objective of reaching our key target audiences across the Asia region, and beyond.
This role will be an integral part of MTV EXIT’s management team and will report to MTV EXIT’s Head of Creative & Content, providing experienced thought leadership on all distribution strategies, serving as the focal point for all media research to inform all MTV EXIT program outputs. The Distribution Manager will develop and implement integrated distribution plans to strategically disseminate content to a variety of new and existing stakeholders by forging and maintaining strategic partnerships with local and regional broadcasters, radio stations, online platforms, NGO’s, universities, schools, and other commercial & non-commercial content platforms. Experience and a thorough understanding of a broadcast environment, licensing & acquisitions, television audience research and television ratings will be essential.
Internal communications will be an important part of this role’s remit and the position will forge close working ties with key team members across each department.
RESPONSIBILITIES
•To develop, implement and maintain an integrated content Distribution strategy for a youth-focused, anti-trafficking campaign in the Asia Pacific region aligned with the campaign’s key objectives
• Obtain relevant in-depth media research to inform both the initial design and subsequent distribution of all content materials, working closely with the Researching & Learning and Strategic Partnerships teams to collate and manage such data.
•Develop and maintain strategic relationships with a large network of leading broadcasters and media partners across Asia Pacific region, with a specific focus on building presence in selected priority markets
•To drive development of promotional and marketing strategies for content materials in close partnership with the Content, Digital, and Communications teams
•To develop and manage key programming relationships with Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) including MTV Asia and all MTV licensees across various departments, ensuring regional distribution strategies are developed in-line with VIMN International systems, standards and objectives throughout the region and internationally.
•Drive clear communications processes with VIMN Asia & VIMN International, donor partners and other key stakeholders regarding key content dissemination via regular updates and reporting mechanisms
•Receive and action all campaign Distribution requests, including the collation of technical specifications, music licencing and clearances, and other associated logistics for final delivery
•Draft and manage all third party licensing distribution agreements
•Continue to strengthen distribution impact values and reporting efforts with the Monitoring & Evaluation team
•Plan and manage discretionary spend of Distribution budget
•Effectively coordinate with staff members in HQ and Southeast Asia country offices instrumental in execution of the Distribution strategy
QUALIFICATIONS AND PREREQUISITES
The ideal candidate will have:
•A Bachelor’s Degree in a Media and/or Communications related field.
•At least 3-5 years solid work experience within a dynamic broadcast television environment. Broadcast experience will be essential, ideally with a strong Programming and/or Distribution background in Asia.
•An excellent grasp of the evolving media & television environment, including new media, potential political, cultural and economic impact and how this continues to affect media consumption in a localised contexts.
•Highly developed communication skills, and excellent command of English language both written and spoken.
• Extensive experience working within an international, multi-lingual environment
•Highly developed social skills, strong networking abilities & interpersonal skills, and extremely team oriented with a positive attitude
•Experience working for pro-social public awareness campaigns is desirable
•Willingness and ability to travel in the Southeast Asia region
•S/he will be detail-oriented, self-directed and highly organised with the ability to prioritise own workload and work on own initiative in a diverse and multi-functional role
