Founded in 2003 and based in Madrid, DARA is an independent international organisation committed to improving the quality and effectiveness of huminatarian action for the benefit of vulnerable populations who have been affected by armed conflict or natural disasters. In particular, DARA seeks to strengthen accountability and learning in the humanitarian sector. Working with partners, DARA conducts research and evaluations on humanitarian policy and practice. DARA actively promotes humanitarian principles, assesses performance, and supports innovative approaches.

DARA is looking to recruit a Finance and Administration Assistant to provide his/her expertise and support to the several programs within the Organisation.

Purpose:

The main responsibility is to ensure the appropriate financial management and follow up of DARA’s different programmes in compliance with the requirements and deadlines of the donors.

Position in the organization:

Under the supervision of the Finance and Administration Director

Responsibilities and Main Tasks:

In coordination with the relevant Program managers and Finance and Administration team:1. Manage DARA’s financial procedures and commitment with donors, including performing the financial tracking of projects complying with the policies, norms and procedures for justification of each grant, and taking into account the original plans and subsequent adjustments2. Generate supporting financial information to facilitate program decision-making processes3. Advise on the financial aspects of all budgets, proposals and projects4. Manage the tracking of expenses against the budget approved by funding institutions and manage the application of substantial modifications5. Generate monthly cash forecasts for Finance and Administration, and ensure that payments and invoicing are carried out in a timely manner6. Maintain relationship with focal points in funding institutions, in relation to economic or financial issues related to the projects7. Contribute as necessary to the different auditing processes required by funding institutions8. Liaise with providers/consultants to ensure that support documentation for payments are adjusted to the requirements of donors and Spanish laws9. Control the analytical accounting of the invoices related to the projects10. Follow up on credit card and bank account statements related to the projects and perform account reconcilement using an ERP application11. Perform payments from the bank accounts opened by request of public donors

Education and Experience:

• University degree in Economics/ Business administration or related field• Minimum of 3 years experience in accounting department and/or similar position– references will be highly valued• Experience in managing public funding (AECID, European Commission, UN organizations…)• Good command of English language (written and oral) • Expert use of MS Office, especially Excel; experience in working with ERP tools• Experience with Spanish accounting system
