The ideal candidate possesses 3-5 years strong administrative, management and organizational skills, knowledge of Global Ministries’ missionary work, ability to effectively communicate with people of diverse cultures in person and through other method influenced by advance technology, ability to manage the coordination of missionary itineration process with a high level of responsibility, and ability to strategically plan and implement the itineration process. The person would also possess computer proficiency in Windows environment appropriate to position. This person must also have a flexible leadership style, a strong attention to detail, and work well in a team environment. This position requires an extremely perceptive person, who is capable of relating to missionary needs. As unique situations present themselves, the incumbent must be sensitive to mission needs and Global Ministries' image.

The Position

• Manage process of arranging for missionaries visiting annual conferences throughout the United States and where appropriate outside the United States including overseeing the visa process
• Determine in consultation with missionaries and executives the appropriate time frame for itineration visits
• Work with Development staff and the Conference Secretaries of Global Ministries (CSGM) to coordinate itineration schedule
• Assisting in creating and directing in conjunction with Development staff and the Mission Interpreters marketing efforts to promote the missionaries visits and work
• Create and enforce itineration policies and develop new ways of communicating with churches using technology
• Provide itineration training for missionaries, CSGMs, and Mission Interpreters
• Coordinate missionary itineration with the assistance of the Development staff to increase financial support for missionaries
• Direct coordination with development staff about retiring missionaries and missionaries leaving service so supporting donors will be informed properly. Work with Development staff to make suggestions to churches about how they can transfer their support
• Review and assist with completion of service/renewal of service policies and requirements such as wellness, pre-retirement itineration, service grants, etc
• Up to 30% domestic and International Travel may be required

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in personnel administration, management or related experience
• Proven experience working strategically
• Experience in international missionary work is a strong plus
• Membership in the United Methodist Church preferred
• Strong planning, development, management and organizational skills
• Excellent written and oral communication
• Fluency in other languages desirable
