Progressio is looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to support Return Volunteers from the International Citizen Service (ICS) programme, an overseas volunteering programme for young adults.
You will be assisting us in enabling Return Volunteers to carry out action in their own communities inspired by their experience, and ensuring we are responsive to their needs. This role will involve administration, web editing, database maintenance, event management and social media. Your tasks will be varied, allowing you to develop a number of useful work-based skills.
What sort of tasks will this include?
Tasks will vary, and may include: liaising with Return Volunteers; assisting with responding to emails and general requests; assisting with administrative tasks relating to Return Volunteers, such as database updates; assisting with the coordination of the Return Volunteer Weekends; updating the ICS pages of the website; assisting with the organisation of the ICS photo and video library; providing social media support; occasionally attending and supporting ICS Selection Days, and occasionally helping with marketing activities.
Is this volunteer role right for you?
You will receive an induction and support to carry out this role. Ideally we are looking for: enthusiasm and a proactive approach, including a willingness to speak to people over the telephone; good organisational and administrative skills; experience of using social media, particularly Facebook; experience of engaging with young people and/or youth networks and groups; an ability to work both in a team and individually; excellent English skills (spoken and written); a respectful and polite approach; good IT skills; good attention to detail, responsibility and reliability. Some experience of administration and/or knowledge of volunteering in the UK or overseas would be desirable, but is not essential.
