Leishmaniasis Control Programme Prevention Co-ordinator - Syria
The MENTOR Initiative is looking for a highly motivated and skilled person to join their emergency team and to help lead the work of the organization in Syria to bring under control a Leishmaniasis epidemic that is currently severely affecting the population living in and around Aleppo. You will be working as part of a specialist disease control team, and will be responsible for planning, capacity building and delivery of integrated vector control programmes in high transmission areas of the city and surrounding towns and villages to protect highly vulnerable communities. You will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluation activities for each of the prevention strategies used in the emergency response, and for monitoring the efficacy and impacts of the tools used, and reporting progress and key results.
You will be hold a post graduate qualification (or equivalent) in disease control, public health or similar, and you will have several years of proven experience in the design, management and monitoring & evaluation of indoor residual spraying campaigns, and programmes to distribute, and obtain high usage, insecticide treated nets and other vector control materials, together with IEC/BCC. You will be a good communicator and trainer, and a competent team manager that can inspire others and work remotely.
Ideally you will have regional experience, some operational research experience, and experience of working in challenging settings.
