Consultant - Photographic Curator, Jerusalem
BACKGROUNDSince its founding UNRWA has produced and collected an audiovisual archive, covering all aspects of the lives and history of Palestine refugees. The photographic curator will be asked to design an exhibition to present a selection of this archive.
The exhibition should be aimed at a wide audience. The archive should be central to the exhibition, but the photos and films would be brought alive by adding to them in a visually powerful and imaginative way. The exhibition should therefore be easily movable and set up, possibly by using projection and interactive monitors, rather than printed images. More details will be made available after an initial screening of the candidates.
To apply, the candidate should present:• A powerful portfolio, showing experience with curating, design and/or artistic experience.• A short concept note with some initial ideas on this exhibition, especially on how to make archival photos taken come alive for a wide contemporary audience.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE• Experience in curating photographic exhibitions, preferably of an archival nature similar to this one. Experience designing publications would be an advantage.• A background in art and photography would be an advantage.• Affinity with Palestine refugees and/or the work of UNRWA.
