Mali: Chief of Party - Mali Nutrition Program

We are actively recruiting for a Chief of Party based in Bamako, Mali to lead an Integrated Rural Program to Improve Nutrition and Hygiene focused on women and children, with a special emphasis on building resilience through the prevention and treatment of under nutrition while targeting the first 1000 days of a child’s life (conception – 24 months of age). The five-year project will achieve these objectives using the following interventions: increase access to and consumption of diverse and quality foods; improve nutrition and hygiene-related behaviors; and increase the utilization of high impact nutrition and WASH promotion and treatment services.
The Chief of Party (COP) will provide technical leadership and overall program management, and ensure all Cooperative Agreement requirements are fulfilled. S/he will lead the project team in start-up, project planning and review processes. S/he will also be responsible for program inputs, overall strategy, external representation and critical coordination with program counterparts, and other programs. The COP will ensure sound activity implementation; project staff management and timely submission of technical and financial deliverables to USAID. The COP will line manage the Deputy Director, and will report to the SC Mali Country Director. S/he will be responsible for managing the partnership with SNV (through regular meetings with SNV’s Country Sector Leader for Agriculture) and for liaising and coordinating with stakeholders at sub-national and national levels, including USAID’s Agreement Officer Representative (AOR).
Requirements• Master’s Degree in nutrition, public health, social sciences, international development, or related disciplines• Minimum of 10 years of professional experience leading, managing and implementing large international development projects, specifically with experience in two or more of the following areas: nutrition, health policy, health systems strengthening, behavior change communication, community development, food security, or agriculture• Minimum of five years’ experience working in sub-Saharan Africa or a similar context • Experience in the implementation as well as managerial and operational leadership, with demonstrated strategic planning and thorough budget management skills• Experience in managing USG funding and familiarity with federal regulations• Previous Project Director or COP experience is preferred• Strengths in inspiring and enabling others through teamwork, training, and organization development to realize organizational objectives • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills • Professionally proficient in French and English required
