Description
Summary:
The Exhibit Curator will create a collapsible exhibit featuring Internews' projects and work around the world. This is a consultant position that will start immediately and involve 30-45 days of work over approximately 6 months.
SCOPE OF WORK:
The Exhibit Coordinator will:
• Run a brainstorming session (with IN board, advisors and senior management) to get their thoughts on the scope of the exhibit, including audience and purpose
• Consult with Internews partners, well-wishers and the target community to gauge the interest in and understanding about Internews’ work to feed into the exhibit planning.
• Assess a range of media tools and platforms to understand what can become part of the exhibit and how it can be made interactive.
• Develop a creative concept, as well as an exhibition/events storyline for the that allows visitors to experience how media is produced outside the US (especially in situations of humanitarian crisis and in post-conflict environments
• Provide an events and exhibition brief with detailed description of strategy, planning and realization processes for the exhibit.
• Work with the event planner to incorporate the exhibit into the other activities for the event namely keynote/moderated discussion and a cocktail reception.
• Coordinate design and production of exhibition material with internal staff and outside vendors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• The successful applicant will have the following experience and qualifications:
• Managing exhibits at museums, libraries or private collections
• Work experience in exhibition design, planning, and management
• Knowledge of traditional, as well as digital media tools and their use
• Excellent written communication skills
• Experience managing a large staff, including interns and volunteers
• Academic degree in curatorship, art history or media development
