The Major Gifts Manager, Global Philanthropy will help lead a dynamic, entrepreneurial team that is creating new philanthropic champions for girls and women and building a movement to lift women and their families out of poverty. The Major Gifts Manager will manage individual relationships with the world’s leading philanthropists who support girls’ and women’s health in the developing world. The position is focused on supporting the efforts of the Women’s Investment Network (WIN), a global philanthropic initiative and movement for girls and women within Population Services International (PSI) in collaboration with other partners including The Gates Foundation, UN agencies and others. S/he will be responsible for the philanthropic activities related to WIN including implementing successful strategies for members and partners to build the network and strengthen the collective voice for girls and women. The position is based in PSI’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. with approximately 35% domestic and international travel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create and implement long-term strategies to guide and strengthen philanthropic relationships to achieve greater impact and increased funding for the health and rights of girls and women in the developing world.• Maintain a personal portfolio of individual philanthropic partners and manage their global health leadership plans, fundraising goals and participation in building WIN. Partner with them in building a global network of other leaders who will invest in girls and women and help them develop their voice as a leader on their chosen health issue.
• Work closely with the WIN team to develop creative, innovative partnerships between philanthropists, foundations and corporations to achieve greater investment in health solutions for girls and women. • Create unique and personal stewardship plans for each member that should include learning opportunities, international trips to the field, speaking engagements and thought leadership.
• Establish strong working relationships with PSI’s senior leadership, as well as other internal partners to drive the organization’s goal of building a collaborative and dynamic culture of philanthropy.
• Continuously learn and develop knowledge of PSI’s programs around the world and health solutions for girls and women. • Work closely with the marketing and communications team to create promotional materials and publications designed to enhance PSI and WIN’s profile, build strategic relationships and generate visibility for the organization.• Write proposals, stewardship reports and creative personal communications. • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager, Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• The successful candidate will have at least a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; graduate degree or MBA preferred.• At least five years of proven experience in developing philanthropic strategies for high net worth individuals.• Proven history of managing philanthropic partnerships (individuals) of at least $100,000 preferred.• A comprehensive understanding of philanthropy, corporate social responsibility, fundraising and communications. • The ability to conceptualize, plan and implement a strategic approach to building relationships and securing philanthropic support from individuals: setting realistic goals, developing strategies for prospective partners, prioritizing activities, soliciting gifts, and orchestrating the involvement of volunteers and senior leadership.• Experience developing solid working relationships with senior leadership teams, board members, and high-level volunteers and donors.• A track record as an effective communicator who is articulate and persuasive verbally and in writing.• Demonstrated ability to multi-task, be organized and flexible, and meet deadlines by prioritizing responsibilities.• Experience working and/or living in a developing country preferred
