Support for Capacity development for Child-friendly Policing of the Ghana Police Service
UNICEF Ghana office is seeking request for Expression of Interest (EoI) from professional institutions having capacity and capability to provide support in the field of child-friendly Policing/Security services to the Ghana Police Service.
The objective of this consultancy assignment is to contribute to the expected Programme output (6) of the UNICEF/Government of Ghana Child Protection Programme, i.e., “By 2016, justice system actors apply principles and laws on child justice and programmes are increasingly available in support of young offenders, child victims and witnesses.“
More specifically, the expected result of the assignment is to integrate the promotion and protection of child rights and protection within the Ghana Police Service. To this end, the consultancy is expected to result in the following deliverables:
- Capacity gap analysis and capacity strengthening Plan;
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on handling cases involving children (victims, witnesses and offenders) for the Police force;
- Standard practices, processes and associated tools for collecting data pertaining to children’s cases;
- Training curriculum and associated training resources for Police training institutions which integrates the SOPs into practice;
- A core group of trainers, specialized in training on child-friendly policing;
- Evidence gathered of positive impact of process (step 1-5 above);
- An End of assignment report submitted to UNICEF and Ghana Police Service.
The expected duration of the consultancy is 18 months.
EoI to be submitted to UNICEF Ghana Office on or before 2nd May, 2014.
