OVERALL DESCRIPTION:

The incumbent will provide assistance to the senior Analyst of the organization in delivering quality analytical product relating to military, police, paramilitary and other security structures. The post holder will be assisting in identifying, collating, processing and analysing information/evidence related to the roles of individuals considered as bearing the greatest responsibility for serious violations of international humanitarian law.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Analyst the incumbent will provide the following support:

• Assist in the collation, processing, review of various documentation collections.
• Assist in the detailed analysis and exploitation of key documentation and other sources related to different security structures.
• The conduct of searches (including Open Source Analysis) for selected projects.
• Assist in the preparation of written analytical reports (in English) relating to military, police, paramilitary and other security structures.
• Assist in the identification of collection gaps and new sources of information/evidence.
• Assist in the provision of graphics for reports and presentational purposes
• Assist in managing collection plans and collection tasks.
• Perform other related analytical and field tasks as directed.
• Collaborate with other analysts working in related fields/projects.

EXPERIENCE:

Professional analytical experience, in particular within a relevant military, criminal justice, policing or other relevant analytical environment.

Required:

• Professionalism – knowledge and understanding of theories, concepts, and approaches relevant to analysis (ideally within a large scale criminal investigation); good research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including ability to identify and participate in the resolution of issues/problems; familiarity with and experience in the use of various research methodologies and sources, including electronic sources on the internet, intranet, and other databases; ability to apply good judgement in the context of assignments given; ability to plan own work and manage conflicting priorities.

• Communication – Excellent (spoken and written) communication skills, including the ability to draft/edit a variety of written reports, studies and other communications, and to articulate ideas in a clear, concise style.

• Technology Awareness – fully proficient computer skills and use of relevant software and other applications related to analysis.

• Teamwork – An ability to remain focused on key tasks, maintain high standards despite the complexity or repetitive nature of the analysis, have good interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and working relations in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.

• Ability to work within multi-skilled investigative team environment.
• Discretion – Ability to work to strict security standards and maintain a high degree of confidentiality at all times.

Education:

University degree in history, political or military studies, international relations, law, criminology, analysis or related fields.

Languages:

English and Arabic are the working languages of the organization. Fluency in Arabic (written and reading) is critical to the position (including an ability to conduct sight translations and written translations from Arabic into English and vice versa).

Other Requirements:

• Residency permit for the EU
• Valid passport
• The incumbent may be required to travel
