Norlha, an apolitical, non-religious NGO based in Lausanne, Switzerland, aims to spur sustainable development and reduce poverty in the Himalayas through carefully crafted and locally run projects in the sectors of Health, Agriculture, Environment and Education. The organization actively supports impoverished communities with the long-term goal of achieving economic self-sufficiency and the preservation of their dignity.
In order to strengthen the support to its field operations provided at the headquarters Norlha is looking for a: Programme Manager Environment
Volunteer position or internship, full- time or part- time (30% min)
Job Description:
- Recruit collaborators (programme officers) for Norlha office in Lausanne
- Guide and monitor programme officers in project management activities and coordinate their work at programme level
- Ensure cooperation with other related programmes (for inter-sectorial projects) and departments within Norlha (fundraising, communication, administration)
- Develop new projects in line with Norlha's strategic plan, together with superiors and field partners; take the lead in preparing project proposals and identifying potential donors
- Monitor and coordinate financial planning and expenses of projects
- Foster effective partnerships with local and international organisations for project implementation
Candidate Profile:
- Enthusiasm to be responsible for a team of volunteers and preferably having some experience in this field
- Experience in managing development projects (e.g.: project identification, proposal writing, financial management, monitoring and evaluation)
- Willingness to train or guide programme officers, and to bring your professional experience (preferable in an environment-related field of work) to the organisation
- Fluency and writing skills in English (working language), French an advantage
- Good computer and research skills
- Motivation to invest oneself fully in this opportunity
- Dynamism, autonomy, drafting qualities, analytical and synthetic capacities
- Excellent inter personal skills

Details of assignment:
- Duration: 9 months min.
- Expected start of assignment: August
- Working time: 30% min. with flexible working hours
- Working mainly home-based with occasional meetings at Norlha office in Lausanne.
NB: This part-time, long-term volunteer position or internship is not paid.
We give preference to those candidates living within reasonable travel distance (2 hours) from Lausanne.
