The Child Focus & Child Protection Advisor - East Asia will provide technical leadership and support to child focus programming and integration of child protection at all levels of the organization, lines of ministries and sectors in alignment with partnership policies, strategies and standards to enhance the well-being of children.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Advice and support the Integrated Ministry Director in his leadership and engagement on matters related to Child Protection and Child Focus.

• Collaborate with other regional functions to ensure that child focus and compliance to Child Protection Policy are adequately and appropriately integrated within relevant regional secondary strategies and priorities.

• Work closely with National Offices providing critical guidance and input in the area of child focus and protection in relation to strategy or business plan and child protection programming.

• Coordinate and support national and regional offices in the event of child protection incidents as per the established partnership and region protocols and standards.

• Contribute to the development of child focus programming models fully integrated with development, Humanitarian & Emergency Affairs (HEA) and advocacy that enable the well-being of children.

REQUIRED SKILLS INCLUDE:

• Education and or experience equal to a Master’s degree in social policy or other relevant discipline.

• In depth expertise in at least 2 and a general understanding & exposure to all the key issues in the following areas: UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and its practical application; Child Participation; Child Development; and Child Protection.

• Knowledge of the region and key issues affecting children.

• At least 5 years of experience in managing child focused and child rights sector at national or regional level.

• Experience in child focused and child rights based programming within a relief, development or advocacy – programming context.
