The role
The Member Growth Team is the team responsible for providing support to Members for the delivery of Save the Children’s Member Growth Strategy. The Market Development Team is one of three functional areas within the Member Growth Team, and is responsible for developing the global market portfolio for fundraising, managin g new market entry and for providing capacity building and support to Members with high growth potential who have requested support from the Member Growth Team.
The Market Development Manager (Europe) is responsible for support to high growth potential Members within the geographic region of Europe, and new market development within Europe or in other regions as appropriate. During 2013 and 2014 the Market Development Manager (Europe) will manage the Member Growth Support Coordinator shared with the Fundraising Development Team and work closely with the Business Manager and Senior Fundraising Development Manager to ensure that SCI’s suite of offerings and tools are well tailored to what members need.
Qualifications and experience
* A university degree in business/marketing, social sciences or a related discipline.
* Significant marketing / fundraising experience with a track record of delivering high income growth in at least two international markets, preferably in Europe.
* Proven expertise and up-to-date knowledge of Save the Children’s priority fundraising techniques, channels and products.
* Experience of starting up a fundraising or marketing operation.
* A strong understanding of the business infrastructure and leadership requirements of expanding organisations.
* A strong understanding of business and financial planning, budgeting and budget management.
* Good planning skills and proven ability to devise and operate to contingency plans where necessary.
* Good analytical skills and ability to analyse marketing and financial data and produce effective management information.
* Able to prioritise and effectively manage a large and diverse workload in a pressured environment, working to short and long-term objectives
* Experience of managing teams, consultants and agencies.
* Experience of managing and working in cro ss-organisational working groups.
* Excellent communication skills.
* The ability to influence and motivate others and to foster collaboration to liaise with a wide range of people at all levels and across different cultures and to act with credibility, tact and diplomacy
* Verbal and written fluency in English. The ability to work in a second European language would be a strong advantage.
