Chemonics seeks a chief of party for the anticipated USAID-funded Power Africa project. Launched by President Obama as the new initiative to support economic growth and development in Sub-Saharan Africa, Power Africa aims to increase the supply, access, and affordability of lower carbon power to beneficiaries while ensuring responsible, transparent, and effective management of energy resources throughout the region. The chief of party will work in partnership with USAID to provide transaction support and capacity building for a range of private power transactions in Power Africa's initial focus countries of Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, and Tanzania. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. This position will be located in Africa.

Responsibilities include:

• Infrastructure project finance and/or structuring public-private partnership arrangements

• Knowledge of business and working environment in key African countries

• Capacity building and technical assistance expertise in public-private partnerships and related areas for sector regulators, service providers, and policymaking bodies

• Liaising and coordinating effectively with donors, financiers, project proponents, host governments, community stakeholders, regulators, and operators

Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in engineering, public policy, business, finance, economics, or other relevant subject area preferred

• Minimum 15 years of experience successfully implementing and managing long-term energy and infrastructure projects

• Considerable experience in one or more of the following programming areas: supporting regional or national energy planning, markets, and regulation; electricity generation, transmission, and distribution; energy transactions (conventional and renewable); infrastructure finance

• Chief of party or team leader experience on large USAID or donor-funded projects

• Experience in Africa strongly preferred

• Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity

• English fluency required
