Iraq: Customer service specialist

The Iraq Governance Strengthening Project (GSP), a four-year, $57 million project enabling local governments to respond more effectively to community needs, is seeking expressions of interest for a short-term customer service specialist for a three-month assignment in Iraq from August 15 to November 15, 2013. The specialist will be responsible for training and guidance during the institutionalization of citizen service desks in Iraqi legislative provincial councils and governors' offices. The position will support provincial councils and governors' offices to develop skills and procedures that will enable them to exercise their respective duties of monitoring and overseeing service delivery to the Iraqi public. The three-month assignment will be based in Baghdad with travel to Hilla, Erbil, and Basrah. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree
  • Five to seven years of experience with a USAID project or similar international organization preferred
  • Eight years of customer service experience in the private or public sector, preferably from a community development or citizen service perspective
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Experience working in developing or transitional environments; experience working in the Middle East with previous Iraq experience preferred
  • Experience developing and facilitating trainings and producing training material
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Must be willing to work in Baghdad, Hilla, Erbil, and Basrah
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; Arabic language skills strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
