Uganda: Disaster Risk Reduction Officer
Country: Uganda
Closing date: 11 Aug 2013
Help Uganda Red Cross develop monitoring and evaluation tools that can assess the impact of its disaster risk reduction activities and identify areas for improvement.
As the frequency and impact of disasters such as landslides and flooding increase in Uganda, so does the demand on Uganda Red Cross’ disaster response operations.
To reduce vulnerability and build community resilience to disasters Uganda Red Cross implements a range of activities, from tree planting to promotion of energy saving technology to education. It is seeking the support of an Australian volunteer to develop a Disaster Risk Reduction strategy and gather documented evidence of how its activities have increased community resilience.
The volunteer will help to review existing documentation including program plans and strategies and develop recommendations for strengthening the disaster risk reduction program. They will provide technical support in the development of monitoring and evaluation tools to assess the impact of the program, document findings of good practice and share this with relevant stakeholders.
This is a volunteer assignment under the Australian Volunteers for International Development (AVID) program, an Australian Government, AusAID initiative. Airfares, living allowances, accommodation, insurance and other support is provided through the program.
