REGIONAL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER (GRANT DEVELOPMENT OFFICER) – AMERICAS

ChildFund International – Americas Region is seeking a Business Development Officer. The role of the Business Development Officer will be to coordinate/facilitate proposal development and grants acquisition by building profile, pre-positioning National and Regional Offices and strengthening National Office proposal grants acquisition capacity in country offices. He/She will coordinate with the Regional Office to plan and complete proposal tasks. Task Description:
- Drafting and submitting an initial program design outline based on ChildFund documents.
- Provides strategic leadership for intelligence gathering and pre-positioning efforts.
- Strengthens Regional and NO grant-acquisition capacity including developing of training materials and carrying out regular training of NO staff to understand grant acquisition and management strategies and comply with donor standards
- Submitting technical drafts for reviews after incorporating information and feedback from RO team
- Collaborating with International Office division to finalize capabilities statement.
- Participating in team reviews and revising technical drafts based on feedback
- Contributes to the design of business development processes, tools and templates for ChildFund and support their use by proposal development teams /National Office Grants Acquisition teams.
- Supporting the Regional Grants and Fundraising Manager in developing strategy for the region
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in writing grant proposal and obtaining grants from bilateral and multi-lateral donors. Experience with private sector donors (namely corporations) is an added advantage.
- Thorough understanding and proven track record obtaining major donor awards.
- Prior experience working in the development sector.
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and work autonomously under pressure of deadline required.
- Fluent oral and advanced writing skills required in English and Spanish.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in International Development or a field related to the organization’s core program, or equivalent relevant work experience (MA preferred)
Experience Required
- 5-7 years’ experience in writing grant proposal and obtaining grants from US government and other bilateral/multilateral donors. Experience with private sector donors is an added advantage
LOCATION: Americas Regional Office in Panama City, Panama or HOME-BASED in a country within the Americas Region.
