Founded in 1950 with the aim of training doctors to work in developing countries, actually CUAMM is working in Angola, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda implementing healthcare projects in partnership with local governments and institutions.

PROJECT TITLE: Protect mother and child health in Beira city - Mozambique

START DATE January 2013

DURATION 12 months (extendable)

REQUIREMENTS- University Degree in Medicine and Surgery with further specialisation in Paediatrics - Good knowledge of written and spoken Portuguese- Previous experience in Developing Countries

PROJECT OBJECTIVESThe project aims at enhancing quality and availability of maternal and neonatal services in Beira Hospital and Health Centres.

KEY DUTIES
The main tasks of this function will be the following:- ensure clinical activities foreseen by the project in the area of expertise- support health staff training in Paediatric ward and health centres- ensure technical assistance and supervision to health centres staff- collaborate to periodical elaboration of workplan and activity reports- participate in technical meetings in the area of expertise organised by Health Province Direction, Hospital, University or Development Cooperation Agencies- tutor a resident, if required

Sierra Leone: Paediatrician/Neonatologist Project Manager for a programme in Sierra Leone

PROJECT TITLE: Capacity building for improving access to quality obstetric, neonatal and child care services in Pujehun District

START DATE January 2013

DURATION 1 year (extendable)

REQUIREMENTS
- Citizenship of a State of the European Union (requirement essential for administrative issues)- University Degree in Medicine and Surgery with further specialisation in Paediatrics - Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English- Previous experience in Developing Countries- Previous experience of management of health cooperation projects will be an asset

PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The project aims at - guaranteeing quality obstetric, neonatal and child services in Pujehun Hospital and health centres- supporting the overall management of hospital services- improving technical skills of health staff

KEY DUTIES
The Paediatrician Project Manager will be responsible of overall project activities and human, material and financial resources management.The specific tasks will be• Guarantee the good functioning of Paediatric Ward and the neonatologic component of Delivery Room and Maternity Ward• Check Paediatric Ward organization, staff availability, protocols application and health information system in order to improve management• Technical Assistance to the Hospital Management Team to improve in particular Obstetric, Neonatal and Child health services, but paying attention to the overall Hospital organization and services• Support the practical training and Continuing Medical Education of health staff of the Hospital and of the 5 BEMONC centres of Pujehun District• Monitor the availability of materials and drugs in order to improve quality of services and appropriate training in the field of Obstetric, Neonatal and Child health care. • Supply essential equipments for operating room safety and resuscitation and assistance of the newborn. • Training MCH and maternity staff in Kangaroo Mother Care for low birth weight and pre-term babies
