UNU-EHS, established in December 2003, addresses the risk and vulnerability aspects of human security and the consequences of complex environmental hazards for sustainable development. The work of UNU-EHS helps to improve the in-depth understanding of the cause effect relationships to find ways to reduce risks and vulnerabilities. The Institute supports policymakers and decision makers with evidence-based research and information.

The EGECHS section investigates the teaching – research nexus to enhance the graduate education and research training of the Institute. The section develops open educational resources on vulnerability and risk for sharing with educators, students and self-learners to use, reuse and adapt them in teaching, learning and research. Information Communications Technologies (ICT) play a key role in the activity of the section with regard to eLearning/distance education, open source technologies and new media in context WEB 2.0 technologies to facilitate communication and knowledge sharing, to enhance project work, and design and deliver learning materials.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will:
•Support the development of multimedia content for educational purposes particularly audio-video materials at UNU-EHS,
•Support the recording, editing and publishing of conferences, workshops and educational events at UNU-EHS,
•Support the introduction and administration of social media for educational purposes at UNU-EHS,
•Support the design of and delivery of web based educational content.

Qualifications and Requirements:
Field of Study: media, graphic design, computer science, information/communication technologies, education or a related field

Essential Skills and Attributes:
•Good knowledge in corporate video, short film and corporate publishing,
•Experience with lecture recording tools and software, Adobe creative/eLearning suite (Premiere, Audition, Captivate, Presenter, Photoshop, Flash, etc.),
•Knowledge of relevant digital applications including familiarity with Social-Media platforms and Content Management Systems (CMS),
•Ability to work independently and maintain effective working relationships with people of different national and cultural backgrounds,
•Excellent command of English.

Desired Skills:
•Experience in eLearning will be considered as an asset
•Other languages, such as French and/or German, will be considered an asset

Teaching/learning objectives:
•Work on exciting projects in context of eLearning, knowledge management and WEB 2.0 technologies,
•Work with a culturally diverse innovative team,
•Gain work experience within UN international working environment.

Duration:
The successful candidate will be based at UNU-EHS in Bonn on a full-time basis for a contractual period ranging between 3-6 months. The internship is not remunerated.

United States of America: Multimedia Database Expert

1) Rationale and context of the assignment: The Internet, Broadcast and Image Section (IBIS) is in need of a Multimedia Database Expert to coordinate the (DAM) system, including photography, video and other visual media assets from HQ and other offices; and to support post-production and equipment services and systems specific to IBIS’ Photography Unit operation.

2) Responsibilities: Under the direction of the IBIS Sr. Photography Editor, and in consultation with other multimedia asset managers and coordinators:A: Advise on and implement the appropriate workflow, procedures, practises and upgrades to maximize the profiling, efficiency and scope of UNICEF’s multimedia DAM system for both administrative users of the system and for global end users throughout the organization (building on the current www.photos.unicef.org);B: Advise on and coordinate the development and implementation of APIs (application programming interfaces) to facilitate the sharing of UNICEF’s multimedia content with internal and external web and mobile platforms;C: Advise on and support best practises for merging and updating taxonomies on UNICEF’s DAM, in line with www.unicef.org and other international UNICEF platforms as needed;D: Support the timely production and updating of photography assets on the DAM, including new HQ image acquisitions, guidelines, features and related content;E: Maintain the Photography Unit’s production and storage LAN (Local Area Network) including advising on upgrades and capacity in line with related industry technology developments;F: Advise on other photo-related digital equipment and softwares including cameras and related peripherals, image management tools, etc.

3) Tangible and measurable outputs of work assignment: Expert and up-to-date provision of multimedia DAM system coordination and implementation to ensure the efficient dissemination of quality multimedia content throughout UNICEF.

4) Delivery dates and details of how the work must be delivered: Timely implementation of above tasks.

5) Reports to: Sr. Photography Editor.

6) Qualifications or specialized knowledge/ experience required: • Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in, coordinating multimedia DAM systems including web, database, API, equipment, taxonomy and related components;
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with non-DAM photography-specific equipment, softwares and related technical components; • Knowledge of the Orange Logic DAM system an asset; • Knowledge of international documentary media standards and practices an asset.• Relevant minimum education/professional experience requirements.
