TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROJECT: "Capacity Building of the Institute for Intellectual Property through the establishment of Information-educational centers of the Institute"

OVERALL OBJECTIVE - To assure that the level of protection of intellectual, industrial and commercial property rights are in line with the EU standards, meeting thus the internal market requirements.

PURPOSES - Strengthen the information and educational function of the Institute for Intellectual Property of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

RESULTS · Information-educational centers at the Institute's headquarters in Mostar and at Sarajevo and Banja Luka branch office operational; · Raised awareness on industrial property in accordance with obligations under the SAA and the TRIPS.

LOCATION The main project location will be Sarajevo.

DURATION The period of implementation of the contract will be15 months.

WORKING DAYS: minimum 264 days, 90% in-country.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications and skills:

· University degree in technical and/or applied sciences; · Fluency in oral and written English.

General professional experience:

· Minimum 10 years of professional experience, at least 5 of which should be related to the field of IPR.

Specific professional experience:

· At least 4 years of experience in conducting patent procedures; · Experience in performing capacity building activities in the field of patents on at least 2 projects/assignments; · Managerial experience.

In the role of National Director you will lead World Vision’s operations in Bosnia-Herzegovina, based in Sarajevo. You will also be a significant contributor to the broader global efforts of World Vision, currently working in nearly one hundred countries, helping around 100 million people in their struggle for better lives and futures for themselves and their children.

World Vision has been active in Bosnia-Herzegovina for over 30 years, touching the lives of over 16,000 children and 271 communities. Our work primarily focuses on long term community development, empowering people to take charge of their futures and make their communities places free of need and full of promise for their children. We also work to protect and promote human rights, especially those of children. And we work with communities to minimise their exposure to disasters and making it easier to deal with them when they occur.

We are looking for a visionary leader who can combine strong business disciplines with inspirational leadership skills in line with our Christian values and ethos. You will have a passionate desire to help others, especially children.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Provide overall strategic leadership and initiative for identifying and securing financial resources to support the program.

• Promote WV’s Vision, Mission, Core Values and key Partnership Standards and Practices among the staff and partners and ensure they are the core foundation of World Vision Bosnia strategies and work.

• Ensure that capable staff is available to implement office strategy and operational plans.

• Represent World Vision Bosnia and build strategic alliances with the Government of the country and major donor agencies, WV Partnership, non-governmental agencies, churches and media.

• Develop and implement appropriate advocacy strategies to raise awareness of and advocate for change in key issues within the specific context.

• Ensure efficient and effective organizational practices that would result in successful financial and operational audit scores.

SKILLS REQUIRED INCLUDE:

• A university degree in management, international development, or related field is required, with a Master’s preferred.

• In addition, the successful candidate will have demonstrated success in senior management of relief and development programs, with considerable overseas experience.

• Strong skills in leadership and management of staff/programmes in NGO context.

• Tolerance of ambiguity.

• Ability to lead teams effectively at distance.

• Commitment to World Vision ethos and mission, vision, etc.

• Preferred: Working knowledge of Bosnia.
