United States of America (the): India Diaspora Fundraiser

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking an India Diaspora Fundraiser who, reporting to the Sr. Director of Individual Giving, will work to implement and grow a new fund development niche within resource development for HFHI. The desired outcome of the Diaspora giving program is to engage diaspora communities living in North America to financially support Habitat's efforts in their "home country". This position will work specifically with the US India Diaspora community. The India Diaspora Fundraiser will use phone calls, face to face visits, direct marketing and other creative cultivation techniques to close and six figure gifts. This position will be based in a U.S. city with high concentrations of India diaspora.

Primary responsibilities:

  1. Meet or exceed a seven figure annual fund-raising goal.

  2. Create relationships with potential donors, among Diaspora communities. Qualify, cultivate, and sustain donors.

  3. Proactively contact prospects, build rapport, develop productive relationship while tracking activities/results and doing appreciation reporting at a high professional standard.

  4. Exhibit a passion for the HFH mission and communicate that compelling mission to prospective and current donors.

Job Requirements

  1. BABS required

  2. Experience with International Development and relief preferred - Specific experience with US based India communities ideal

  3. Demonstrated knowledge of the India Diaspora networks and the approach needed to obtain results

  4. 5 + years of front-line experience soliciting and closing six figure gifts in a large, non-profit setting

  5. Experience collaborating with others in a complex, multinational, organizational environmentStrong public speaking and presentation skills

  6. Ability to use innovative approaches for developing gifts

  7. Ability to maintain long-term donor relationships

  8. Ability to develop trust and strong collaborative working relationships

  9. Strong technology skills

  10. Travel Required. Mostly domestic - some International travel also likely

Rationale: Concern Universal has set itself ambitious public fundraising targets, with an in-house face-to-face fundraising campaign providing the bedrock for this. With an established schools, community and events fundraising programme and team, there is now a need to increase capacity to maximize fundraising opportunities in these key areas.

Job Purpose: This role will be focused on the regional community and will be working closely with the existing fundraising team. They will develop and implement with the Public Fundraising Manager a community fundraising strategy, to meet clearly defined and agreed income targets.

Responsibilities: Identify regional, organizations, churches and individuals and cultivate relationships with them. Support donors in the organization of their own fundraising events as individuals or through the forming of committees Create an event/events with the events co-coordinator for community donors to support, and work with the major partnership team to secure support form regional businesses. Make full use of the available fundraising propositions such as virtual gifts to raise funds. Meet agreed income target
