Overview of role

SPIRASI aims to protect, rehabilitate and integrate survivors of torture and other vulnerable people. Our team of medical doctors, psychologists, therapists and psycho-social workers aid survivors of torture in their rehabilitation. SPIRASI works to integrate migrants into Irish society by providing English and IT classes and other activities. SPIRASI has been working with survivors of torture since early 2001 and is the only specialist centre in Ireland for the care and rehabilitation of survivors of torture and severe trauma.

SPIRASI is seeking a full time volunteer Fundraising Coordinator to join a dynamic team of staff and volunteers. You will lead, develop and implement the SPIRASI fundraising strategy to raise significant funds and awareness of SPIRASI’s work; research, map and write grants; develop fundraising tools and resources to support SPIRASI’s fundraising strategy; and build trusted relationships with donors and partners.

You will have excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently under your own initiative as well as be a team player. You will have excellent written, presentational and inter personal skills, IT skills and a good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications. You will be able to handle large volumes of qualitative and quantitative data and pay attention to detail. Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.

Main responsibilities

  • Oversee the development of a fundraisng strategy to ensure the sustainable development of the charity.
  • Research, map and write grants.
  • Coordinate fundraising activities from community and independent sources to raise income against agreed targets including follow up with donors.
  • Develop and implement new fundriaising ideas as well as build on existing sources.
  • Build and cultivate excellent relationships with key donors and stakeholders.
  • Draft high quality and professional fundraising materials as needed.
  • To undertake other duties that may from time to time, be necessary and compatible with the nature of this post or as requested by the CEO.

Person Specification

Education:

  • Minimum undergraduate degree.

Skills:

  • Excellent administrative skills and knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written, presentational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage financial information, budgets and do basic cash flow forecasts.
  • Ability to work quickly and under pressure, managing multiple work streams.
  • Project management skills are essential including the ability to plan ahead, and deliver to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Able to initiate and take forward projects independently as well as work effectively as part of a wider team.

Experience:

  • Previous experience and track record in a similar fundraising role is desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with a Customer Relationship Management System desirable.
  • Knowledge of issues affecting aslyum seekers, refugees and victims of torture in Ireland is desirable.

  • Conscientious and self-motivated.
  • Ability to build and manage effective working relationships with a range of internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to work well in a multicultural environment.
