Created in 1992, Avocats Sans Frontières is an international NGO whose mission is to contribute to the creation of a fair and equitable society, in which the law is there to serve the most vulnerable groups and/or populations. Its key objective is to contribute to the establishment of institutions and mechanisms enabling access to an independent and impartial justice system, which is capable of ensuring legal certainty and of guaranteeing the protection and effectiveness of fundamental rights.Avocats Sans Frontières has permanent missions in Burundi, DRC, Uganda, Tunisia and Nepal, and is developing further projects, in particular in Tanzania and Chad. It also implements transnational projects for international criminal justice, protection of human rights defenders and access to economic and social rights, working closely with lawyers and civil society.

Background

Avocats Sans Frontières is aiming to strengthen its ties with existing donors and to develop new relationships with potential donors, with a view to consolidating its financial strategy in line with its operational strategy. ASF is looking for a staff member to focus on the development of this area.

Main responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Administrative and Financial Director and in close collaboration with the Director General, strategic coordinators and the external relations manager, the Major Donor Accounts Coordinator is responsible for implementing research strategies concerning the association's public and private institutional funds, developing new avenues for public and private financing and ensuring they are followed up.

In accordance with the strategy of the fundraising department,
they will be required to:
• Develop the non-structural financing strategies (core funding) of the association
• Identify possible sources of financing at private and public level
• Propose and implement a fundraising action plan in line with the ASF strategy in terms of activities
• Coordinate prospecting to obtain new financing contracts whilst respecting donor rules
• Ensure the respect of procedures, deadlines for sending the dossier in the context of calls for proposal
• Follow the process of drawing up ASF projects in order to guarantee a link with financing contracts
• Support colleagues whilst respecting obligations resulting from financing contracts already obtained
• Ensure contact, representation and follow-up of relations with different donors in order to render the actions and activities conducted by ASF more visible to current and future donors
• Support the staff in the office and out in the field in drawing up and drafting the project proposal, and inform office and field staff about donor rules

The candidate should have:

• A Masters in political science, sociology, finance or equivalent; a diploma in development project management is a plus
• Professional experience of at least 5 years in the field
• Knowledge of the institutional sphere is an asset
• Drive and a sense of priority; organisational, planning and disciplinary abilities
• Analytical and writing skills in French and English
• The ability to work autonomously, to take decisions and to maintain a sense of responsibility
• Maturity in negotiation and representation, a sense of diplomacy and human relations
• Good resistance to stress
• Perfect knowledge of French and English
• Good IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
