Lebanon: Logistics/Distribution Manager – Lebanon
OVERALL OBJECTIVE
The Logistics/Distribution Manager is responsible for supporting improvements and providing management in all logistics and distribution functions including the supply chain, the distribution of food and NFIs, fleet, assets and communications in coordination with the logistic and procurement team. The Logistics/Distribution Manager will provide technical support and strategic planning to future initiatives to increase the in-country logistic and distribution capacity and support to the programs. This requires a highly motivated and detailed solution oriented individual who will be able to resolve operational critical challenges as they arise and endeavours to implement sustainable systems and transfer knowledge and skills to existing staff.
BACKGROUND
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental and non-profit organization, founded in 1956, working in more than 30 countries around the world. DRC has been operating in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian and Iraqi refugees, as well as Lebanese communities affected by the war in 2006.
DRC is committed to basic humanitarian principles; including impartiality and neutrality, and offers the highest standards of accountability to the people it serves.
Since May 2011, DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon and Beka’a. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, protection and community centre activities, collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects.
DRC is inviting qualified candidates to apply for the position of Logistics/Distribution manager to support its logistics/distribution activities in the country.
DUTIES
• Assist in building the capacity of the logistics and procurement team in accordance with DRC policies and procedures;
• Create a quick visual reference for logistics and distribution activities;
• Improve accountability through weekly and monthly reporting of stocks, WHs, and distributions activities;
• Provide logistics and distribution support and advice;
• Monitor overall logistics and distributions activities and recommend and implement changes as necessary;
• Assist staff in the understanding of formats and procedures;
• Develop framework agreements with suppliers along with the Logistic/procurement staff, including vendor lists and profiles;
• Daily, weekly, and monthly checklists of stocks and distribution activities;
• Analysis of frequently ordered parts and supplies to maintain a consistent stock level;
• Ensure adequate maintenance of storage at all operating locations;
• Mapping of overall warehouse locations throughout the areas of operation;
• Support the roll out of the logistics/distribution emergency preparedness plan.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field;
• International experience in supply chain management in an emergency environment including procurement, transport and distribution, warehouse and stock management;
• Willingness to travel to field locations;
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing NGO large scale logistical and distribution functions;
• High computer literacy level with expected proficiency in Word, Excel, PDF, Photoshop and Internet;
• Experience in Distributions of food and NFIs;
• Experience of building and developing the capacity of logistics staff through trainings, performance evaluation and career development plans;
• Excellent interpersonal and team skills;
• Fluency in written and spoken English, Arabic desirable;
• Experience in basic construction techniques ref. shelter response desirable.
