The Center for Global Health, Division of Global Health Protection (DGHP), Emergency Response and Recovery Branch (ERRB), is currently recruiting for a full-time Epidemiologist , GS-601-13 for our Epidemiology mission based in Atlanta, Georgia. The application deadline is Monday, April 21, 2014.

ERRB works with partners to strengthen the global public health workforce, support public health systems, and strive for program sustainability through key strategies that emphasize applying public health science and practice and demonstrating measurable public health results. The ERRB Branch uses training and consultation to help ministries of health (MOHs) to make short-term interventions and develop health systems to address health threats with Refugees and Individually Displaced People in affected countries.

The incumbent will serve as Epidemiologist or Medical Officer in providing substantial input in the day-to-day technical and scientific planning, implementation, and analysis of scientific research studies conducted by other scientists.

DUTIES:

As an Epidemiologist you will:

· Provide technical consultation and assistance to Federal, State, local and other health agencies concerning various complex epidemiology projects.

· Identify and analyze public health issues and their impact on public policies or scientific studies or surveys.

· Conduct search or review of the existing literature and data in scientific area.

· Analyze study or project implementation procedures for improvements.

· Plan and carries out quality control programs and selects appropriate epidemiologic methods to be used in quality control analysis.

· Provide scientific advice and technical assistance to various public, private, and/or nonprofit health and/or health-related agencies.

· Identify or develop appropriate methods to identify or resolve various medical issues or problems.

· Provide scientific consultative services to difficult programs or projects that have unusually demanding scientific problems or issues.

· Collaborate with analysts and statistician to develop joint analyses and publications.

· Participate in the syntheses of social science and epidemiologic data to be applied toward designing effective prevention programs and practice guidelines.
