The Aflatoun programme provides children and youth with the building blocks of life and empowers them to make a positive change in their lives. It balances personal and social awareness with practical planning, saving and entrepreneurial skills. Headquartered in Amsterdam, the Aflatoun Secretariat is responsible for providing services to organizations in over 100 countries that deliver the programme to over three million children.The Aflatoun Secretariat is a dynamic, result-driven and diverse 25-member team hailing from approximately 12 different nationalities. Aflatoun is currently looking for the following personnel:
Senior Fundraising ManagerThe Senior Fundraising Manager will be responsible for seeking new sources of funding and nurturing existing funding relationships. He/she will work with global funding organizations, corporations and governments to mobilize resources to enable the Aflatoun programme to operate globally. He/she will work closely with the Programmes Team and will report directly to the Director Advocacy, Fundraising and Communications.
Key Responsibilities:• Researching and approaching trusts, government agencies and other bodies that could potentially make grants to the organization. • Liaise with programme managers and Aflatoun country partners over potential opportunities.• Writing and presenting proposals.• Managing the grant application process and ensuring that reporting is tracked and meets donors' expectations.• Developing relationships with major donors, identifying new potential major donors and nurturing relationships.• Attending relevant fundraising forums, conferences and meetings.• Other miscellaneous activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:• University degree in international relations, business or public administration, political science or similar.• Approximately 5 or more years of fundraising experience in the non-profit sector, preferably complemented with working experience in the field of children and youth education& development. • Extensive experience in writing successful funding proposals and applications to trusts, foundations, corporations and institutional donors.• Extensive contract management experience, incl. financial management.• Excellent communicative and social skills and the ability to learn quickly on the job.• Strong organizational skills and the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities and work in a team characterized by diverse cultural backgrounds.• Self-driven with a high sense of creativity, quality, accuracy, efficiency and meeting tight deadlines.• Fluency in oral and written English (preferably English as a first language); knowledge of additional languages such as French, Arabic, Spanish, German or Russian is an advantage.• Strong computer skills, including sound knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.• Willingness to present the organization to various stakeholders during meetings and conferences.• Creative and proactive attitude and willingness to achieve results.• Ability and willingness to travel internationally.
Conditions of Employment:The position is for a full-time work week (40 hours). We offer a dynamic and pleasant multicultural working environment, with an indicative gross yearly salary range of €37,576 - €49,029 (inclusive of pension, health insurance, holiday allowance and national insurance contributions) - the salary level awarded will depend on relevant work experience and educational background.
