Job Description and required qualification:
(Important Note – Position open to Kenyan nationals only)
Under the direct supervision of the Protection Program Manager while working closely with the Psychosocial Program Manager, the incumbent will oversee and manage the safe house including the following functions;
? Oversee the running and maintaining of a safe and dignified shelter residence for refugees assessed to have heightened security concerns including the maintenance of pristine hygienic conditions at the safe house and the strict enforcement of shelter living guideline;
? Oversee the safe and dignified reception, entry, screening and exit of shelter residents. In addition, prepare daily logs and maintain a database of the residents ;
? Implement and assist in the provision of basic needs and ensure the general well being of shelter residents including food and nutritional needs, hygiene packets and clean and safe living quarter;
? Initiate, coordinate and facilitate new activities for shelter residents including supervised play, vocational/recreational activities for adults, access to in house counselling, creation of child friendly spaces and refurbishment of common areas;
? Facilitate entry and exit strategies for shelter residents including for resettlement, safe integration to the community;
? Provide administrative support to the safe house which shall include the coordination and implementation of office procedures and oversee and supervise staff at the shelter;
? Provide leadership, support, synergy and coaching of all the employees at the shelter residence;
? Provide ongoing evaluation and implementation of lessons learnt including through ongoing feedback from shelter residents, exit interviews and joint review with UNHCR colleagues;
? Conduct periodic and regular house meetings with the shelter residents and provide for participation of residents in the management of the shelter
? Prepare periodic reports on the safe house;
? Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
Education - University degree in Social work, Community development or Sociology with some basic counselling skills. Applicants with training on safe house management will have an added advantage. Experience working with a refugee assisting agency will be a distinctive advantage.Working Station/Duration: The successful candidate will be stationed in Nairobi.

o Excellent attention to detail, deadlines, accuracy and quality;
o Ability to communicate effectively
o Must have a heart of service and a demonstrable concern for the under privileged.
Experience – Applicant must have at least 5 years experience in working with an NGO.
Languages Proficiency in English and Swahili.
