Job Summary:
Responsible for the general maintenance of safe house facility.
Reports to:
Centre Manager
Main Duties & Responsibilities
• Record every incident/accident that occurs in the building, e.g. power failure, water seepage, alarm ringing, and notify those responsible for appropriate follow-up action
• Drawing to the attention of the appropriate authorities, any repair or maintenance work required at the safe house.
• Ensuring that yard work and maintenance of outdoor areas such as the laundry area, children’s playground, washrooms and toilets is carried out to the recognised satisfactory standard and at the frequencies laid down by the organization and ensuring that all work is carried out safely. This includes but is not limited to mowing the lawns, keeping the compound clean, trimming the fences, trees and shrubs and tending to the flowers
• Ensure that routine repairs and maintenance of the safe house is carried out to the recognised satisfactory standard and at the frequencies laid down by the organization and ensuring that all work is carried out safely.
Education
Form 4 certificate
Grade 1/2 National Certification in Plumbing, Masonry, Carpentry, Electrician, Mechanics or other specialized field
Required Skills
• Good presence of mind, and should be able to take care of the crisis situations.
• Honesty, courteous and practical.
• Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Good self-presentation
• Able to liaise with other staff
• Capable of repairing minor faults and maintaining small equipment
• Willing to put in long working hours
Experience
At least 3 years practise in particular field
Prior experience working with an institution will be a distinct advantage
Languages:
Proficiency in English and Swahili
