CONTEXT
The Medical Technical Coordinator takes part, in collaboration with the Medical Director, to the elaboration and the implementation of the policy and the strategies relating to the technical aspects of the department as well as to the trainings of the Department.
He/she reports regularly to the Director of the Medical Department the state of progress of the objectives defined beginning of the year, of the other projects carried out in the course of the year, and of those developed internationally.
He/she collaborates, with the other coordinators of the department (Operational Coordinator, Watsan Coordinator, Operational research Coordinator), and with the Medical Director to the elaboration of the medical vision within the OCB.
JOB PROFILE
He/she coordinates 5 strategic technical units (approximately 30 persons) which are part of the Medical Department in Brussels, as well as the documentation centre of the OCB: - Unit SAGE (surgery-anesthesia–gynecology–emergency medicine) - Unit of disease supervision - Mother & child Unit - Psycho-social Unit - Pharmaceutical Unit - Documentation Centre.
Each Unit has in its composition one relay person insuring the cohesion and the link between the different expertise of the unit. Each expertise keeps its autonomy within the Medical Department.He/she makes sure that, through the different decisional platforms, of the relevance of the resources implemented in the missions. As such, he/she takes care of the interface between the different units and the medical coordination of the Operations at the level of the Department in order to update the strategic and technical support and the support plan drawn annually.
He/she defines in collaboration with the different experts of each Unit the strategies to be developed in the different fields. He/she organizes the technical meetings within the Department in order to inform the whole of the persons constituting the Department. He/she ensures the link between the different Units in order to guarantee the exchanges between the Units in joint fields.
In collaboration with the Human Resources Department, he/she supervises the human resources which are part of the different units (recruitment, evaluation, displacements, training, career).
For each of the Units concerned, he/she participates in collaboration with the different experts to the different meetings with the Medical Department of the purchase unit MSF Supply for the validation of the items, modules and the standard medical kits of the OCB.
He/she insures the definition and the availability of the documents of reference (Policies, guidelines, manuals, etc.) linked to the different expertise within these units aforementioned.
He/she insures that the Medical Department takes part to the management of the trainings of the Medical Department according to the strategic plan defined with the person in charge of this file within the department and with the training unit of the Human Resources Department concerning the targeted audience, the content and the environment of these trainings.
He/she manages the information (Documentation Centre and within the Medical Department) to insure that the whole of the Medical Department as well as the medical staff of the social mission has access to the information.
He/she insures the connection and the interaction with the other support departments on joint themes.
He/she insures the management, with the Director of the Department, of serious undesirable events (medical errors, unfair practices) and ensures the information and the follow-up of this files within the OCB.
How to apply:
CANDIDATE PROFILE
• Medical or paramedical profile
• Experience in medical coordination at the MSF headquarters and in the field (at least 4 years)
• High level of general knowledge of the medical strategies applied within MSF and more particularly.
• At ease with organization and team mobilization around multidisciplinary projects.
• Good capacity of communication (oral & written) is essential.
• Interest in individual et collective coaching is highly recommended.
• Languages : English and French essential.
• Computing : knowledge and use of Word and Excel required
CONDITIONS
• Undetermined Contract - Full time
• Based in Brussels with possible visits on the field and in Europe
