Chemonics seeks a project engineer for the ongoing USAID Enhance Climate Resiliency and Water Security in the Maldives (Maldives GCC) project. Maldives GCC is intended to demonstrate the process and outcomes needed to allow island communities to maximize their opportunity to overcome impacts from global climate change. The project engineer is responsible for overseeing all design, engineering, and construction activities funded by the Maldives GCC. He/she will work with the chief of party, project subcontractors, and Government of Maldives partners to take each infrastructure activity through conception, planning, design, construction, and handover. He/she will provide quality assurance in each step of the process, overseeing technical specialists and subcontractors, keeping the chief of party informed of progress and taking corrective action in consultation with the chief of party when necessary. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in civil engineering, construction, or construction management (or equivalent) required
Minimum five years experience in design and construction of municipal infrastructure: must include at least one year of experience designing piped systems and at least one year of experience in construction or construction management of pipeline installation
Skilled in standard computer programs, including production of written reports, creation of spreadsheets, budgets, and schedules
Demonstrated experience in CPM scheduling
Understanding of IBC standards of materials and construction practices for design and installation and municipal water and wastewater systems
Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collegially in a multi-cultural setting; fluent in spoken and written English
