Duty Station: Dhaka with frequent travel to the field

Purpose of Assignment:Under the general guidance of the Chief of Section and in close collaboration with Child Protection, Health, Education, Nutrition and WASH Sections: (i) to provide technical assistance to efforts to document and generate data and evidence on the contribution and positive impact of C4D initiatives on harmful social norms and practices so as to influence national policy ; (ii)build capacity of government counterparts and select behaviour change communication partners to document and package C4D innovations (iii) to capture and present lessons learned in user friendly formats to support knowledge management in UNICEF and the UN, fundraising purposes and policy advocacy. Emphasis is on using a participatory ‘significant change story’ process that involves validation of change by communities.

Major duties and responsibilities, time line and deliverables:

  • Produce eight (8) C4D good innovation/ best practices stories according to the global C4d innovation template and meeting publishable standards. (These are already in draft
  • Establish processes in select communities to identify, verify and document 4 c4D approaches using the participatory significant change story approach
  • Provide technical guidance and capacity development support to Ministry of Information (MOI) and Ministry of Women & Children’s Affairs (MOWCA) on how to produce significant change stories, with communities
  • Serve as a technical focal person for production of a 10 minutes feature documentary on the results associated with the 2-year implementation of the ‘Engaging Communities Social and Behaviour Change project in 7 UNDAF districts.

Qualifications and experience required for the assignment:

Advanced university degree in English or social/behavioural sciences (sociology, anthropology, Health Education,) with emphasis on documenting human interest stories2. Four to six (4-6) years’ work experience in documenting the application of specific C4D programming approaches to improve/contribute to sector targets3. Communicates fluently in English; excellent writing and editing skills 4. Computer knowledge, skills and practical experiences including internet navigation, network, telecommunication and various publishing applications5. Strong networking, advocacy and negotiation skills6. Strong training, facilitation skills7. Previous UN/UNICEF experience an advantage8. Knowledge of and experience in working with communities to tell and document significant change stories , an advantage
