This position is contingent upon award from USAID for a project focused on education in support of the Primary Grade Children Community of Practice. All candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
Responsibilities
In support of Primary Grade Children Reading Community of Practice activities, the Senior Researcher will:
•Apply experience in the area of research, synthesis and knowledge management related to primary grade reading improvement to investigate promising approaches to early grade reading
•Explore related issues and document ‘what works’ effectively and cost-efficiently in pilots and at scale.
•Support quantitative and qualitative research, synthesis, dissemination and use of new knowledge within a project or organization, such as conducting special analytical tasks and reports, including gender and other analyses.
•Develop or direct the development of innovative and creative technical solutions to research problems, questions, and issues, using or extending state-of-the-art methods.
•Support capacity building with teachers, supervisors, and quality assurance officers for investigative and applied research activities to ensure results.
•Direct development of timely research reports and disseminates results to diverse audiences in order to build knowledge for the program/project, country and wider field.
•Provide oversight for related events, training and communications.
Qualifications
•Master's degree in Education or related field required; Ph.D. preferred.
•Minimum of 10 years of experience in education research, involving a range of research activities and products.
•Qualitative and quantitative experience required, in reading or a closely related technical area.
•Minimum of 5 years of experience conducting research on education in developing countries.
•Wide range of publications and conference presentations.
•Candidates speaking French, Spanish or Arabic in addition to English preferred.
