This position is responsible for securing financial support for UMCOR’s key priorities and to help coordinate UMCOR relations with conferences and churches of the United Methodist Church as part of the Connectional Strategies Team in the Communications and Development Unit. The Manager of Church Relations – UMCOR reports directly to the Director of Fund Development.
This work includes:
UMCOR DONOR PORTFOLIO (70%): Secure and strengthen donated financial support for UMCOR:
• Manage a portfolio of key church donors and, working with the Major Gift/Planned Gift Officer, a smaller portfolio of key individual donors who fund and support UMCOR priorities
• Establish relational contact with these donors, understanding the essential connection to UMCOR projects
• Advocate and provide further education and engagement of these donors with UMCOR
• Provide stewardship/acknowledgement for key UMCOR donors
• Work with UMCOR program leadership and staff to find, build and connect donors to specific priority projects
• Working with the Church Relations- Global Ministries position in managing those donors who are strongly supporting both UMCOR and Global Ministries priorities
CHURCH RELATIONS (30%):
Coordinate local and conference church requests for connection with UMCOR and its priorities, including:
• Managing requests for UMCOR speakers, programs and materials
• Working with CST, Missionary Interpreters, and conference contacts to provide support to conference and local church requests
• Building volunteer advocate support at the jurisdictional and conference level to assist in meeting church and conference needs for presentations and programs related to UMCOR
• Work within the Connectional Strategies Team to coordinate promotion of UMCOR at mission events, annual conferences, and events
REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor Degree
• Fundraising Experience and Training
• United Methodist Preferred with knowledge of UMC structure, mission and polity
