Division & Project OverviewThe International Development Group (IDG) is one of three international program divisions at URC/CHS and manages health field programs funded by USAID and CDC primarily in Africa and the Latin America region with key focus areas in improving health systems performance, including management support systems, and quality of care in maternal and child health, family planning, HIV/AIDS, TB and nutrition.
Roles and Responsibilities:IDG is seeking a Research and Documentation Specialist to support the implementation of Translating Research into Action (TRAction) Guatemala research activities and to provide documentation and communication support to the Developing Strategies in Central America and Panama Region to Strengthen the Reponses to the HIV Epidemic under PEPFAR (PROVIT) project. The Specialist will report to the TRAction Technical Support Lead for Guatemala, and technical lead for the PROVIT project.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Provide technical support to project teams in the design and implementation of research activities.• Support field teams in LAC programs to analyze project data.• Support documentation of project activities through various communications channels (web stories, project briefs, journal articles etc.) • Edit project documents and reports.• Design, write, and edit promotional and informational material for internal and external audiences.• Work closely with IDG Knowledge Management Specialist to promote and foster results documentation, inter-project sharing and use of lessons learned and best practices.Minimum Qualifications:Required Experience & Qualifications
• Master’s degree in public health, communications, public relations, public policy, , international relations or the social sciences.• Three to five years of relevant experience. • Fluency in Spanish (reading, writing and speaking); experience with translation of technical documents.• Experience working with programs based in the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region.• Ability to think creatively and strategically to identify the most effective methods for communicating information and promoting use of priority research and programming. • Experience with research design, implementation and data analysis.• Experience with report writing and project documentation. • Excellent writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail.Desired Experience & Qualifications
• Strong inter-cultural and interpersonal skills.• Experience writing for multiple audiences, especially in translating technical knowledge into common language. • Familiarity with use of social media sites as platforms for disseminating information and increasing interest. • Familiarity with Microsoft Suite
