Pakistan: Export analysis expert - peach sector

Chemonics seeks an export analyst who will support the USAID-funded Firms project in Pakistan. Chemonics has worked in Swat for the past two years to develop the peach sector with the goal of increasing per-acre yield and fruit quality, while reducing pre-harvest and post-harvest losses. The objective of this consultancy is to assess the total production and export potential of Swati peaches. This position will be based in Islamabad with travel. Projected date for this position will be September-October 2013. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct an analysis of the production and supply of Swati peaches
- Conduct an analysis of international marketing opportunities
- Map the in-country infrastructure available and necessary for export
- Outline a marketing strategy for export of Swati peaches
- Analyze current sales and marketing channels, product attributes (fruit size, blush color, shape, sweetness, shelf life), and requirements of potential markets to propose the export strategy for greater financial return
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in horticulture, agriculture economics, business administration, or marketing required
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience required
- Experience in similar assignment of analyzing export potential of selected fruits and in designing strategies for their export; experience with peaches is preferred
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in English required
